About 50 minutes drive away from the city, the Matang Wildlife Centre is part of the Kubah National Park where you can find some endangered wildlife in large enclosed areas of rainforest or in some spacious cages. The main attraction here is the semi-wild Orang Utans that can be seen coming out to the feeding area. The young Orang Utans that are either orphaned or rescued from illegal captivity, are trained here to survive in the wild so that when they are ready, they shall be released to their natural habitat.
At the foothills of Mount Serapi, the backdrop of the wildlife centre, is a recreational park with picnic areas, jungle tracks and a crystal clear mountain stream that is splendid for swimming after your trek. |
